Refugee tripped by a camerawoman gets coaching job in Spain. Real Madrid invites him and children to their next match

When God wants to change your life! Abdul Mohsen, who was kicked and tripped by a Hungarian journalist, has been offered a coaching job at a school for football coaches in Spain. The offer also comes with a house and temporal transport. After finding out that he was a coach at Syria's biggest clubs before the war, members of Spain's Cenafe national football coaching center decided to help him start a new life.
Cenafe dispatched a Moroccan trainee to help Abdul Mohsen and his sons get to Spain. They had been staying at a hotel in Munich, Germany. The 52-year-old revealed that his wife Muntaha, 38, eldest son Almuhannad, 18, and their 13-year-old daughter Doua'a, had stayed in Mersin, Turkey, where the family fled from Syria in 2012.
Cenafe president Miguel Angel Galan said that the fact that the 52-year-old was a football coach led to "solidarity because we are colleagues."
Meanwhile, Real Madrid Football Club has invited Abdul and his children to attend their next match this coming weekend. "It's a dream to be here. Thank you Real Madrid. Thank you Spain!" Abdul said.

32 yr old pregnant woman arrested in India, drugs found concealed in her stomach

The 32-year-old South African woman named Mosiea Moosa who initially lied that she was 7 months pregnant, was actually carrying packages of the drugs in her stomach and her urogenital tract. She was arrested on August 30 when she landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, India from Dubai on an Emirates flight,The Times of India reports.
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths became suspicious after looking at her passport and travel pattern over the last one week. On subjecting her to medical examination, they discovered that she had swallowed the banned drugs which were packed in small polymer packets.
She was rushed to Osmania Hospital by the NCB sleuths to get the packets of drugs out of her body. The NCB sleuths intercepted Mosiea at the RGI Airport after she arrived from Dubai by Emirates flight EK-526 on Sunday morning.
"When we intercepted her, Mosiea said she was walking with difficulty as she was seven-month pregnant. When we shifted her to a corporate hospital at he airport for preliminary examination, she admitted that she was carrying narcotics in her stomach," a NCB officer said.By giving laxatives, the hospital staff managed to extract 16 pouches of narcotics substance. The NCB officials confirmed that no surgery was performed on the woman and she was under medical supervision.
"We have not yet conducted checks on the narcotics recovered from the culprit. However, by looking at her travel pattern and the narcotics market, we suspect that the substance could be cocaine from Brazil," a NCB official said.According to the NCB, Mosiea landed in Dubai from Johannesburg on August 23. The next day, she took a flight to Sao Paulo City (Guarulhos International Airport) in Brazil. On August 28, she returned to Dubai from Sao Paulo. On Sunday, she reached Hyderabad from Dubai.
"As a major portion of cocaine consumed the world over is manufactured in Brazil, we believe that she was carrying the contraband. Her return journey to Johannesburg has been booked from Hyderabad via Dubai on September 10," the NCB source said. The NCB sleuths believe that Mosiea brought the banned substance from Sao Paulo, and after a break in Dubai for two days, she landed up in Hyderabad.
"She is returning to Johannesburg only after a gap of 10 days. So, the receiver could be somewhere close to Hyderabad, but the final receiver of the product could be anywhere," the NCB official supervising the operation said.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari declares assets

Declare Their Assets

The assets of President Buhari and Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo have finally been disclosed. Below is a press
statement from the presidency.
“Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to
the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), show that the retired
General has indeed been living an austere and Spartan
lifestyle, contrary to what many might expect of a former
Head of State of Nigeria and one who has held a number of
top government positions, such as governor, Minister of
petroleum and the head of the Petroleum Development
Trust Fund (PTDF).
“The documents submitted to the CCB, which officials say
are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show
that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari
had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one
bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had
no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also
had no registered company and no oil wells.
“The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) who
had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics
declared a bank balance of about N94 million and 900,000
United States Dollars in his bank accounts.
“President Buhari declared however that he had shares in
Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
“This is entirely unlike what one might expect from a
former head of state of a country like Nigeria.
“The documents also revealed that President Buhari had a
total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura. He had
two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and in
Abuja. One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from
his late older sister, another from his late father.
He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build
two of his homes.
“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land,
one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying
to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.
“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard
and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm
include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety
of birds and a number of economic trees.
“The documents also showed that the retired General uses a
number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings
and the others supplied to him by the federal government in
his capacity as former Head of State. The rest were donated
to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in a
Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.
“As revealed by the same forms, highlights of the Vice-
President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s asset declaration
include his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City,
Lagos and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The
Vice President also has a 2-bedroom flat at the popular
Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a
2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England. Aside
from these, the Vice President has no other landed
properties on the form.
“Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the
Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private
companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd.,
Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd.
and MTN Nigeria.
“According to details shown on the form, the Vice-
President has about ninety four million naira, nine hundred
thousand US dollars and nineteen thousand pounds in
Nigerian Banks with the foreign currencies kept in local
domiciliary accounts. His personal vehicles are one Infinity
4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the
documents will be released to the Nigerian public and
people can see for themselves.”

How 5-star Ikeme keeps Eagles on top

A wingless Super Eagles team managed by Sunday
Oliseh could only manage a goalless draw against
Tanzania in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations
qualification match at the National Stadium, in Dar es
Salaam yesterday.
It was the first official game for Oliseh as the head
coach of the Super Eagles.
Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and Russian-based midfielder
Izunna Uzochukwu were handed debuts with the duo
of Haruna Lukman and Obiora Nwankwo returning to
the senior national side after some months in the
wilderness.
The first real chance of the game was missed by
Nigeria. Skillful Moses Simon was brought down and
the resultant free-kick to Emmanuel Emenike was
wasted.
Tanzania upped the tempo, putting pressure on the
three-time African champions.
The lively Mbwana Samatta forced a save from Ikeme
after he ghosted past Solomon Kwambe. It was
perhaps the best chance of the action packed game
in the opening thirteen minutes.
Samatta was at it again with his header too weak to
trouble impressive Ikeme.
For about ten minutes, the Super Eagles were left
chasing shadows with coach Sunday Oliseh not too
happy with his boys’ performance. In the 28th minute,
skipper Ahmed Musa delivered a well constructed
shot after he was set-up by Emenike.
The homers had a strong penalty appeal turned
down by the match referee on the half-hour mark.
Taifa Stars were in need of the opener and were
urged on by their die hard fans.
Coach Oliseh clearly showed his displeasure with the
performance of Haruna Lukman. The former Golden
Eaglets skipper made way for Slyvester Igboun who
was handed his international debut for Nigeria in the
36th minute.
The hosts were nearly punished for a defensive
blunder but Moses couldn’t utilise the opportunity
that came his way.
Nigeria conjured up one final chance in first-half
stoppage time, but Emenike’s speculative effort was
easily held by goalkeeper Mustapha.

The Super Eagles were much more improved after
the break with Emenike leading the charge.
Musa was put through on goal by Emenike but the
CSKA Moscow forward couldn’t deliver a good cross
to his team-mates. His final ball was poor.

On the hour mark, Tanzania were almost in front. It
took a timely tackle to stop them.
A criminal miss by Tanzania summed up a wasteful
afternoon for them. Ngasa Mrisho headed wide in
front of an empty goal.

Thomas Ulimwengu then forced another save from
impressive Ikeme who held the low shot at a second
attempt. The England-based goalie enjoyed a brilliant
game on his international debut for Nigeria.
Five minutes from time, substitute Eduok got a rare
Nigeria chance as he tried to chip the ball over
goalkeeper Mustapha.
Oliseh didn’t exactly get off to a flying start in charge
of the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles were the happier of the two teams
to get a point on the road as the Taifa Stars were
clearly the better side.

With yesterday’s draw against Tanzania, the Super
Eagles now top the group with four points.
Egypt will however, overtake Nigeria at the summit of
the standings if they defeat Chad on Sunday at Stade
Omnisports Idriss Mahamat Ouya, N’Djamena.

7 year old girl shot by her dad before he turned the gun on himself

Mary Shipstone was shot in the head by her father as she stood on her own doorstep next to her mother, clutching a new violin, after she returned from school in September last year. She was taken to King's College Hospital, London, but later died of her injuries.
According to Daily Mirror, her father, Yasser Alromisse, 46, was hidden in the rear of a silver Toyota on the drive by the house, in Northiam, near Rye, East Sussex, when he fired the shot.
The car windows were tinted and he had created a blind from bin bags to shield himself. His body was later found in a pool of blood in the rear of the car, where he had shot himself in the head.
Lyndsey, Mary's mother who had recently moved into a safe house in the area after domestic violence caused her to separate from her husband because she did not want be traced by Alromisse following the collapse of their marriage, told the inquest the killing was an "act of revenge".
"Why did he kill Mary? I don't think I will ever really know that." she said."He wanted to kill himself and for some reason he thought she shouldn't live without him. It was an act of revenge really. It has got to be. If he really loved her, he never would have murdered her. I was the one he hated the most."
The court heard he hired private detective Paul Parton in May 2014 to try and track her down but Mr Parton was unable to locate Lyndsey and later withdrew his services because of his concerns over Alromisse's motives.
Coroner Alan Craze said it was not clear how Alromisse eventually found the address. He described the murder as a "thoroughly despicable act of violence. It was not in any way spontaneous. It was pre-meditated over a long period of time."

Woman arrested for drug trafficking accuses husband of setting her up

A 38 year old mother of three, Rashidat Abdulkarim, who was arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for attempting to export 2.04kg of cannabis to South Africa has accused her husband of setting her up.
According to The Nation, the dried weed found in her luggage at the cargo section of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, tested positive for cannabis and was concealed in cartons of seasoning cubes.
Rashidat, who sells female shoes and hand bags said that she is still in deep shock that cannabis was found in the parcel her husband told her to collect from a man which she was supposed to deliver to him when she gets to South Africa
“I am in shock and pained that my husband is behind my problem. My husband sent twenty-eight thousand naira to buy locally made textiles. He also told me that one man will bring food seasoning and herbal medicines to me. I bought the textiles and added it to the seasoning bought by the man. On getting to the airport, drug was found inside the carton of seasoning. I am so sad and disappointed. I struggle to fend for myself and my three children. Even before my husband traveled to South Africa, he left me with the upkeep of the family. I have suffered so much financial neglect. I have never smuggled drugs all my life. He had done the worst. My eldest child is only thirteen years”she said

ILE-IFE: Ifa oracle set to choose next Ooni

The next Ooni of Ife will, no doubt, emerge according to the dictates of the Ifa oracle. In Yorubaland, divination gives priests unreserved access to the teachings of Orunmila. Though, the respective ruling houses have indicated interest in occupying the throne as prospective candidates are not resting on their oars to emerge the next Ooni.
The kingmakers, have over time, been guided in the process of selecting the Ooni of Ife in the past. Guided by Ifa, the king-makers in Ile-Ife are expected not to go against the dictates of the divinity. The Ifá divination rites provide an avenue of communication to the spiritual realm and often times, the king-makers consult Ifa before it makes any pronouncement on who occupies the Ooni throne.

Failure by the king-makers to consult with Ifa often results in the untimely death of the occupant of the throne. Remarkably, Ifá is practised throughout the Americas, West Africa, and the Canary Islands, Azores, and Madeira, in the form of a complex religious system, and plays a critical role in the traditions of Santería, Candomblé, Palo, Umbanda, Vodoo, and other Afro-American faiths, as well as in some traditional African religions.

THE exit of Oba Okunade Sijuwade as Ooni of Ife has created a vacuum which would be filled by a worthy successor. The late Sijuwade emerged the 50th Ooni of Ife in December, 1980 and ruled the ancient city of Ile-Ife for 35 years.

Ruling houses

He died at the St. Mary’s Royal Hospital in Paddington, London, after a brief illness in July, 2015. There are four ruling houses where the Ooni of Ife could emerge. They are: Osinkola, Ogboru, Giesi and Lafogido but the odds seem to be in favour of the Giesi house. Already, the Giesi Ruling House, in line with standing rotational arrangement of the 1957 Chieftaincy Declaration after the demise of Oba Sijuwade, has set in motion plans to present qualified persons to the king-makers.
Members of the ruling house have met at the family compound at Agbedegbede Lane in Ile-Ife to receive the report of its selection screening committee. The committee, it was gathered, submitted its report to the head of the family, Prince Modupe Fadehan. But interestingly, the likely successor will emerge after the king-makers must have sought the divine guidance of Ifa oracle.

In addition, the Ifa oracle would be consulted on the choice before the final ratification by the chief priest. Before now, the king-makers were advised to guard against manipulating the emergence of the next Ooni of Ife. A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, who is the Atona Oodua of the Source, recently, appealed to them not to allow politicians use their influence to choose the next Ooni.

Similarly, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo threw his weight behind George.
Selectionprocess
Obasanjo said it was imperative for the king-makers to choose the rightful, God-fearing person to occupy the throne even as he called for a hitch-free selection process that would produce the next Ooni. Some unnamed politicians are said to be scheming to manipulate the process for their preferred candidate to emerge as the next traditional ruler in Ile-Ife.

Ifa worshippers call on govts for recognition
Meanwhile, Ifa worshippers have called on government at all levels to set aside a day for celebration of the traditional festival, as it obtains in the Islamic and Christian religions.
This was the crux of the matter at the 2015 Isese Day Celebration of Isese Parapo and International Council for Ifa Religion in Egba district, held in Abeokuta, recently with the theme” The importance of government in Ifa religion.” The Ifa traditionalists who converged on their praying ground at Oke-Aregba area of the state capital, stressed the importantant roles traditional religion plays in the socio-economic and political development of any nation.

They appealed to government at all levels to give the much-needed support and legal recognition to traditional religion, with a view to enhancing harmony, peace and stability in the country. The Guest Preacher at the occasion and the Erinmi Ijo Orunmila Adulawo of Egbaland,Chief Ifasola Akanbi, in his sermon said that traditional religion had been in existence for long.

Traditional religion
He lamented that government had left out traditional worshippers in its scheme of things, especially in any of its organised religious activities. Akanbi also appealed to the current administration in the state to consider the declaration of a public holiday, preferably on August 20, for the annual commemoration of the traditional day, as it is in Osun State.

He equally appealed to media practitioners, as well as security agencies in the country, to always do a thorough investigation whenever they apprehend ritualists who are tarnishing the good image of the genuine traditionalists for their selfish ends.

Nigerian Arrested With N1bn Cash In Niger

The police in neighbouring Niger Republic have arrested a Nigerian carrying 4.6m Euros (N1.05bn) in cash. The man was arrested at the Diori Hamani Airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger, en route Dubai in the United Arab Emirate.

The Nigerien police said they suspected that the man was fleeing with the money in order to avoid being caught by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been prosecuting an anti-corruption campaign since assumption of office on May 29.

They also expressed worry that there had been an upsurge in the number of Nigerians trafficking huge sums of money in cash through the neighbouring country.

The police in Niger are already working on the suspicion that the money traffickers have accomplices in the country.

The arrest of the Nigerian has been a big news item in the Nigerien newspapers and television stations.

Curiously the authorities here on Wednesday claimed ignorance of the money seizure in the neighbouring country though the Customs officers in Niger were already kicking against repatriating the cash to Nigeria.

A media report in Niger on Saturday said the National Union of Customs Officers at a press briefing “denounced the request of the Nigerian authorities” to return the seized money.

The Customs official said there had been several similar seizures in Niamey from people trafficking money from Nigeria, putting the amount that had been so seized in several billions of naira.

They said the seized money had been mainly in dollars, euros and pounds sterling, asking the Niger authorities to allow the Customs officials to do their job without interference.

When contacted, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said he could not speak on the development because his brief was to speak for the President.

He therefore referred one of our correspondents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I speak for the President. On this kind of issues, I will advice that you speak with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the officials denied knowledge of the seizure in Niger

Republic. The ministry’s spokesperson, Ogbole Ahmedu-Ode, said the ministry had not received official communication on the arrest of any Nigerian.
“I am hearing about this incident for the first time from you, we have not received any communication on the matter from any quarters,” he said over the telephone.
Calls to the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Emeka Obua, did not elicit any response.
He also did not respond to text messages to his mobile telephone on the issue.
The Nigerien embassy in Abuja could not be reached for comment on Wednesday as calls to the mission’s phone lines failed to connect.
The spokesman for the Nigerian Customs Service, Mr Wale Adeniyi could not be reached for comments as text message and repeated calls made to his mobile line were not replied as of the time (8.30pm) of filling this report.
But a senior official of the Service told one of our correspondents in confidence that the issue had yet to be brought to the attention of the agency.
The official said since the matter was a diplomatic issue, there were protocols that must be adhered to before the customs could step in.
The official said, “As we speak now, the matter hasn’t been drawn to our attention. This is a diplomatic matter that has to be treated with caution in order to avoid diplomatic row between both countries.
“The identity of the person in question has not been established and it is the Nigerian embassy in Niger that would verify that.
“After that is done, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be notified before other security agencies would be invited on the matter.
“So, it is not something that the Customs will jump into and start investigating because the Customs in Niger don’t report directly to us in Nigeria.”
